PURPOSE:To obtain a cloth for ink jet dyeing capable of forming a clear and sharp dyed image without causing blurring of the image by applying an aqueous solution of a water-soluble polymer to a cloth and contacting the cloth with a water-soluble solvent unable to dissolve said polymer, thereby coagulating the polymer. CONSTITUTION:A treating liquid composed of a water-soluble polymer (e.g. natural starch or synthetic starch) and water is applied to a cloth for ink jet dyeing made of a synthetic fiber, natural fiber, etc., and the cloth is made to contact with a watersoluble solvent having a boiling point of <=150 deg.C and unable to dissolve the polymer and preferably selected from methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, acetone, etc., to effect the dehydrative coagulation of the polymer and obtain the objective cloth for ink jet dyeing capable of forming a clear and sharp dyed image without causing run and diffusion of the ink. There is no deterioration of the ejection performance of the ink because it is not necessary to add particular additive, etc., to the ink. |
