The optical detection equipment incorporates a telescope, also a first gimbal frame turning in a first axis on the housing. A second such frame turns on the first on an axis at right angles to the first axis, and contains a first mirror, while a second mirror is mounted on the housing in the path of the rays from the first one. A third mirror on the housing is in the path of the rays from the second one. Torque and angle indicators are mounted on the axes. The third mirror (3) is in the centre of the first one (1), the rays (10) reflected from it passing through one of the ball-bearings (5) supporting the first gimbal frame (7). USE/ADVANTAGE - Compact and light in weight, being particularly for use in earth-observation satellites.
