To splice a break in a doubled yarn where, at a spinning station, two yarns of different types are spun simultaneously and are doubled together for winding, they are cut automatically at the doubling point when a break is regisitered in one of the components. The yarn sections are caught by a suction unit and are sepd. without laying in the doubling guide, to be passed to separate splicing stations where each yarn component is spliced with the same type. The doubled yarn at the winding bobbin is carried by a suction tube to a cutter with separate yarn components leading back to a guide in front of the bobbin where they combine. On a correct lie, the separate yarns from the bobbin are each spliced with one of the same type from the spinning station. On an incorrect positioning, the doubled yarn from the bobbin is cut, the components sepd. and the waste removed, and further laid until the sensors register that they are in place.
