A method of optically measuring the molecular or mass concn. of particle components of aerosols involves measuring the intensity of the light inelastically scattered at the particles without taking a sample. A laser light beam is focussed into the investigation vol. and Raman scattered light collected via a suitable lens or fibre glass optical device. The collected light is spectroscopically analysed and the intensity measured at a suitable wavelength to determine the molecular or mass concn. ADVANTAGE - Optimal measurement.
