Tandem ballistic missile assembly - has joint between bodies released by wind pressure on leaving gun-barrel

The tendem missile assembly comprises two missile bodies (14, 16) one behind the other in the axial direction in a propulsion cage, and bearing against each other. The two bodies are positively joined together via a joint (20) which releases under the effect of wind pressure on leaving the gun-barrel. Portions on the guide fins of the bodies can be subject to different wind pressures, so as to pull them apart. USE/ADVANTAGE - Tandem missile which separates after leaving gun-barrel connector. Safely centres and supports front body during passage through gun-barrel.
