Plastic packaging films are ultrasonically welded in binding round or sealing packages or stacks longitudinally in reference to their direction of movement; in the process the packages/stacks are passed through a curtain of the film so that they are covered on three sides, and a strip of the curtain is projected so as to cover the fourth side behind the package/stack. A device takes a loop of the curtain over an ultrasonic welding head to a cutter. ADVANTAGE - The process has the advantages of ultrasonic over thermal welding i.e. avoids the problems arising with heating and it enables the material to be prepd. immediately for use.
