PURPOSE:To readily and industrially obtain a glycoside composition having pharmacological action at a low cost by subjecting a glycoside-containing solution to an ultrafiltration step with a membrane having a high fractionation molecular weight and/or fractionation step with a membrane having a low fractionation molecular weight according to a reverse osmotic method. CONSTITUTION:A glycoside-containing solution, preferably an extract obtained from an organism (especially a plant of the family Araliaceae) or a tissue culture of the above-mentioned organism containing a glycoside with an organic solvent or an aqueous organic solvent is subjected to an ultrafiltration step with a membrane having >=10000, especially 10000-40000 fractionation molecular weight and/or fractionation step with a membrane having <=1000, especially 1000-500 fractionation molecular weight according to a reverse osmotic method to afford a glycoside composition. The solution is initially treated with the ultrafiltration membrane and the resultant filtrate is then fractionated by the reverse osmotic method. The glycoside is preferably obtained as an unfiltered fraction. A polysulfone, polyamide and polyimide capable of satisfying a strict fractionation molecular weight are preferred as a material for the aforementioned membrane. |
