The piston machine is for the transport of gas from one container to another. The working piston (61) is freely movable between limits (19,59) which define the stroke range of the piston. On the piston side directed towards the gas there is an oil column (110) which is moved to and fro by a drive piston (58) such that the stroke volume of the drive piston is the same or near that of the working piston. USE/ADVANTAGE - Piston machine for the control of a vehicle fluid suspension system in which gas losses at the working piston are avoided.
