N,N'-bis-(azobenzene)benzenedicarboxamide and its alkyl derivatives (I), where X is alkyl C1-2, are technologically prepared by a condensation reaction of 4-aminoazobenzene and its alkyl derivatives of a formula (II) where X has the abovementioned meaning with chlorides of l,3- or 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid in an environment of benzene, toluene or their chloro and nitro derivatives. The reaction occurs at 110 to 200 degrees C. N,N'-bis-(azobenzene)benzenedicarboxamide and its alkyl derivatives can be used as a semi-finished products in the synthesis of tar dye or as products for high modular synthetic solvents.<IMAGE>
