The invention concerns the regeneration of trichloroethylene in the production of caprolactam from distillation residues. Embedded extract by water and subsequent distillation of the extract leads to an improvement of yield of the process while maintaining the purity of the regenerated product trichloroethylene, with minimum demands on energy and process regulation.
