PURPOSE:To enable the easy mounting of a parking lock device on the conventional shift device for an automatic transmission by providing the parking lock device in such a way as to be engaged upon shifting of a position lever to a parking range. CONSTITUTION:A rod 6 is so provided as to be freely slidable forward when the operation knob 4a of a shift lever 4 is pulled aft. In addition, a position lever 8 is so provided as to be axially supported and capable of free turn in fore d aft directions via a shaft 9 on a yoked type block 7 fixed integrally with the front end part 3b of a control rod 3 and capable of free turn concentri cally with the control rod 3. Furthermore, a parking lock device 20 is provided at the side of the front end part 3b of the control rod 3, and so constituted that when the position lever 8 is shifted to a parking range P, the turn of the position lever 8 in front and aft direction is prevented, and the prevented condi tion can be released, only when the foot brake is stepped down to turn on a shift device. |
