1,059,782. Photographic silver halide emulsions. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Sept. 11, 1963 [Sept. 11, 1962], No.35897/63. Heading G2C. Photo-developable photographic silver halide emulsions contain silver halide grains formed in the presence of a thioether having one of the formulae wherein in Formula (1) r is 1-6, p is 0 or 1, m is 1-5 when p is 0 and is 2 when p is 1, each of Y and Z is -OH, -OR, -CONH2 or - CONHR where R is alkyl of up to 5 carbon atoms and X is oxygen or sulphur and in Formula (2) s is 1 or 2. The thioether may be added to the colloid solution prior to precipitation of the silver halide or after the latter precipitation but before the grains have been ripened to their final size. The silver halide emulsion which may be of the internal latent image type may also contain stannous chloride dihydrate, thiosalicyclic acid, 1 -phenyl-3 -pyrazolidone, triethanolamine, thiosemicarbazide, sodium nitrite, phenylenediamines, aminophenols and hydroquinones. The material is exposed image-wise to high intensity light from a source rich in blue and ultraviolet to produce a latent image which is photo-developed by overall exposure to subdued daylight or light from a fluorescent or tungsten filament lamp. The material may also be developed and fixed in ordinary developing-out and fixing solutions after the image-wise exposure. |
