PURPOSE:To obtain a compound useful as a raw material for various additives and synthetic intermediate for surfactants, dyes, agricultural chemicals, medicines, etc., by adding metal powder to a mixture of dicyclohexyl disulfides containing dicyclohexyl trisulfide and heating the resultant mixture. CONSTITUTION:Metal powder, e.g. copper, iron, zinc or tin, alone or together is added to a mixture of dicyclohexyl sulfide containing dicyclohexyl trisulfide which is a reaction mixture obtained by reacting chlorocyclohexane with an alkali metal sulfide and the resultant mixture is heat-treated at 80-200 deg.C, preferably 100-160 deg.C to afford the aimed substance. EFFECT:The dicyclohexyl disulfide is readily obtained in high purity and yield and at a low cost. |
