PURPOSE:To prevent the changes in friction between the medium and a magnetic head at the initial state of traveling and at the state after traveling and to prevent sticking of slip by incorporating fatty acid having >30 deg.C melting point and an ester into a protective lubricating film. CONSTITUTION:The perpendicular magnetic recording medium 1 consists of a soft magnetic film 3, magnetic layer 4 and solid protective layer 5, and further the protective lubricating film 6 containing fatty acid having >=30 deg.C m.p. and an ester or alcohol is provided thereon. By this method, friction between the medium 1 and a magnetic head can be reduced and changes in friction can be reduced. This almost prevents sticking of slip and abrasion of films during traveling, damages on the medium or a head when the magnetic head comes into contact to the medium, and sticking of a head to the medium. |
