A plug mill roll for the hot rolling of tubes comprises a plurality of grooved rings (1) mounted on a roll shaft (2) and secured thereon by a clamping nut (4) at one end of the shaft (2) which, via a sleeve (3), urges the rings (1) against a flange (9) at the other end. During assembly of the roll the rings (1) are clamped against the flange (9) by an hydraulic nut (7) which bears a pressure ring (5). The nut (4) is mounted on the shaft such that the ring (5) extends over the clamping nut (4) and engages the sleeve (3). By applying hydraulic pressure to the nut, the requisite engagement is obtained, and the clamping nut (4) tightened while the pressure is maintained. <IMAGE> |
