PURPOSE:To provide an extremely readily handleable active carbon having excellent desorbing ability by forming the active carbon from a polycarbodiimide resin subjected to flameproofing with heat treatment and activation according to a conventional method. CONSTITUTION:A raw material substance consisting essentially of a polycarbodiimide resin is heat-treated at, e.g. 150-350 deg.C, flameproofed and then activated by a conventional method to afford active carbon. The resultant active carbon has better adsorptivity than that of active carbon prepared by using other materials and the shape thereof is fibrous or filmy, etc. Thereby, the active carbon can be formed into a desired shape for use. |
