In a single cylinder knitted machine having four positions at which knitting occurs, as described in the parent Specification, each position is provided with a cam which is operative to raise the passing needles to a position higher than the clearing position, in which position the needles can be fed with a re-inforcing yarn before being fed with the normal knitting yarn. The said cams are movable radially between operative and inoperative positions.
