[Also in Division H2] A pair of double-ended lamps, e.g. tungsten iodine lamps, are carried by supports 53, 53<SP>1</SP> about spaced parallel axes and one lamp is engaged when in operating position by a pair of sockets on an axis parallel to the parallel axes, means being provided for moving the sockets towards and away from one another and for moving the supporting means so as to substitute one lamp for the other. The sockets are carried on springy arms coupled by arms having a pin- and-slot connection. The actuating means for the change consists of a cam 43 on a shaft fitted with an operating knob and having a peripheral surface in contact with a roller 45 on a pivoted lever 35, the tip of which bears on the underside of the arms coupling the supports of the sockets so as to cause these to separate. The cam also carries a roller 47 moving in a slot in a lever 48 linked by a lever 52 to parallel pairs of arms 65, 65<SP>1</SP> pivoted to a fixed frame and carrying the supports 53, 53<SP>1</SP>. The pairs of arms 65, 651 are joined by a link 60, so that movement of the lever 48 removes one lamp from the position to engage the sockets and the other into this position, whereafter the tip of the lever 35 moves away from the arms coupling the supports for the sockets which then engage the ends of the replacement lamp. |
