In a dual rim and spoked wheel assembly wherein inboard and outboard rims 11, 12, separated by a spacer ring 13, are clamped to the wheel periphery, formed by the spoke ends 14 by clamps 31 bolted to the outboard side of the spokes 10, the rims 11, 12 are provided with a lug or lugs 23, 27 respectively on their undersides, of a circumferential length to fit closely between the side walls 25 of adjacent spoke ends and between the sides 36 of adjacent clamps 31 respectively, to provide positive driving connection between the wheel and the rims. The respective lugs 23, 27 are identical to provide for interchangeability of the two rims, the sides 24 and 29 of the respective lugs being radial to the wheel axis to conform with the co-operating spoke and clamp sides 25, 36. As shown, each rim has gutter-edge portion, the underside of which provides a coned surface 20 or 26 for wedging engagement with complementary surfaces 18 or 35 on the spoke ends 14 or clamps 31. Each spoke end 14 is bifurcated on its inboard portion and has an access groove 40 in its outboard portion. On assembly, the inboard tyre valve stem 37 extends between two adjacent spokes. |
