PURPOSE: To obtain a composition for restraining microorganism growth consisting of a combination of 2-(thiocyanomethylthio)benzothiazole with a trihalophenol, restraining growth of fungi and bacteria, etc., through treating wood, leathers, cloths, etc., therewith. CONSTITUTION: This composition for restraining microorganism growth comprises 2-(thiocyanomethylthio)benzothiazole and a trihalophenol (e.g. 2,4,6- tribromophenol) in the weight ratio of (25:75) to (75:25). In this case, target microorganisms include Aureobasidium pullulans, Ceratocystis species, and Trichoderma species. Wood, leathers, cloths, plastics, paper, pulp, etc., are treated with this composition to prevent their decay or deterioration; or, this composition is added to a liquid base for dye, paste or adhesive to prevent growth of such microorganisms. |
