The mounting for a folding rear seat back rest in a vehicle has bearing journals which project sideways from the lower region of the back rest cheeks to engage an open guide slot (3) in a carrier (1). Each of the bearing journals (5) has a lever (7) displaceably mounted on the carrier such that the journal is overlapped by a hook-shaped section (8) in the operating position.
