1,006,901. Lathe tools; milling-lathes; boring-bars. H. HEINLEIN. June 26, 1962 [March 20, 1961], No. 24435/62. Headings B3B, B3C and B3K. A turning, boring, milling &c. tool comprises a tip 2 clamped by a peg 3 which engages a bore 1 in the tip. The bore-axis is parallel to the cutting edges of the tip, which has flat surfaces to engage the tool-body. The peg 3 is carried by an arm 4 secured to the tool-body by a screw 5. Swarf-clearing grooves may be formed in the tip. In a further construction, Fig. 4, the peg 6 is received in bores in the arms 7, 8 of a clamp 9. The tip in Fig. 8 has cutting edges 16-19 at the edges of rhomboidal surfaces, the ends having the form of pairs of isosceles triangles having a common base. In Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown), the tip is applied to milling and boring tools. |
