PURPOSE:To provide a clad vessel having excellent consumption resistance and long life by coating Ir or Ir alloy on the surface of Mo or Mo alloy. CONSTITUTION:Ir or Ir alloy having the m.p. as high as 2,454 deg.C like Mo is coated on the surface of Mo or Mo alloy by which a clad vessel having an excellent oxidation resistance, particularly oxidation resistance to a metallic oxide at a high temp. is obtd. Physical vapor deposition such as ion plating, sputtering, vapor deposition or the like is better than wet plating for the coating in this case. The reason for the same lies in that if such coating is formed by the physical vapor deposition the Ir atoms are embedded into the surface layer of the Mo vessel and provide good affinity between the Mo atoms and Ir atoms. The higher adhesion hardness of the joint surfaces of the Ir-Mo alloy is thus resulted and the clad vessel having the higher mechanical strength is obtd. Ir-Mo, Ir-W, etc. are used for the Ir alloy. |
