The invention relates essentially to a camera and a visualization unit. The invention concerns an emission and reception device for quincunx scanning televisions (HDQ) with sub-sampling associated with an optical filter (9) reducing the diagonal resolution of the image. The filter (9) prevents the folding up of the spectrum in the presence of the sub-sampling which allows to simplify the device according to the present invention. The invention applies both to solid state devices and to devices using vacuum tubes. The invention applies to television and particularly to high-definition television using only a limited pass band and using low sampling frequencies. The present invention applies particularly to image acquisition and visualization in HDQ mode.
