A method of illuminating a football pitch or sports arena consists in arranging a light source or sources on a support or supports located adjacent to the arena at not more than two locations and adjusting the sources so as to direct light on to the pitch. Reflective surfaces may be arranged around the boundary of the pitch so as to redirect some of the light from the sources back on to the pitch. The sources may be batteries of lamps. The supports may be arranged opposite one another e.g. at diagonally opposite corners of the pitch. |
