PURPOSE:To prevent adjacent phosphors from being mixed with each other by laminating and arranging a transparent anode conductor and a phosphor layer on a transparent insulation substrate inserted in the adjacent protruded stripes of transparent insulation material and forming a recessed anode. CONSTITUTION:An anode 5 consists of a number of protruded stripes 6 that are regularly arranged in parallel on the inside surface 1a of a substrate 1 and a recessed anode 9 that is obtained by laminating and arranging an anode conductor 7 such as transparent conductive coatings, for example, ITO coating, NESA coating, etc. and a phosphor layer 8 on the inside surface 1a in a recessed section 6a inserted between these adjacent protruded stripes 6 and 6. The protruded stripe 6 is formed in the same height (d) using transparent insulation material made of glass material or the like. On the other hand, the phosphor layer 8 is fitted in the recessed section 6a so as to keep the same level as the top surface 6b of the protruded stripe 6 or so as not to exceed the top surface 6b. As a result, adjacent phosphor layers are prevented from being mixed with each other and the insulation of both phosphor layers can easily be created with accuracy, and a high precision and high quality color luminescent display with the visual brightness in which each luminous color is equal is obtained. |
