The electrical lighting system can be adjusted using a remote control unit that allows both intensity and direction to be varied. The lighting element (1) is supported in a 'U' shaped frame (2) that can be adjusted in two directions. Movement around a horizontal axis (3) is provided by a motor (6) via a gearbox. A similar arrangement (5) allows adjustment around a vertical axis. Infrared detectors coupled to decoders and amplifiers allow control signals to be received from a hand held controller.
