Card rod sealing strips - are air permeable but dust retaining to give the sealing action

The sealing system for a textile machine, particularly to seal the gaps between the long sides of the rods in a card, uses strips (46,44) which allow air to pass through but retain dust and debris which, on accumulation, builds up into a sealing action. The seals are located at the long sides of the card rods either in or against the direction of drum rotation, and/or to the blade rods, outside the zones where the card clothing or blade can be removed. The seals are fixed in place by an adhesive at the edges, or to the carrier profile together with screws or other mechanical bondings. The carrier profile, with the seal, can be removed or exchanged from the outside without dismantling the rod, such as when the carrier profile is at right angles and the mounting screws are aligned towards the rotary axis of the drum through a leg of the carrier profile running at a tangent while the other leg carries the seal. The sealing strips are in the form of open or closed self-sealing hook fasteners, or similar to carpeting piles. The sealing strips have a width of 5-15 mm, especially 7-12 mm, and pref. 10 mm. The strips can also be in a self-adhesive form. ADVANTAGE - The system gives an effective and low cost sealing action, which can be attached to and dismantled from the card rods easily.
