The stripper for belts (1) has several stripper slats (6) each mounted by a support arm (7) on a support (8) which extends across the belt whereby the slats move out of the basic stripper position when impinged by foreign bodies adhering to the belt. The basic stripper position of the slats is formed by magnetic adhesion between an armature on the side of the stripper and a locally fixed adhesion face on the side of the bearing. The armature is a radially aligned blade of a shaft which supports the slats (6) and which swivels in a housing into the inside of which projects the magnet which forms the adhesive face. ADVANTAGE - Smoother operation without damaging the belt.
