<p>A copper based alloy, suitable for use in a bearing, is disclosed that can have improved resistance, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. The copper alloy comprises from 1.0 to 3.5 wt% Mn, 0.3 to 1.5 wt% Si, 1 to 25 wt% Zn, 5 to 18 wt% Pb, the balance being substantially Cu (and any incidental impurities). The lead is uniformly distributed throughout the structure of the alloy. The alloy has a microstructure whose matrix is composed of alpha -phase alone. The alloy can further contain at least one alloy metal from 0.02 to 1.5 wt% Mg or 0.1 to 1.5 wt% To and one of 0.5 to 3.0 wt% Ni or 0.3 to 3.0 wt% Al.</p> |
