<p>PURPOSE:To eliminate the unsightly appearance in the junctures between elements and to improve display quality by holding a liquid crystal between a pair of transparent electrode substrates and fixing the electrode substrates to a hollow support in such a manner that the end faces thereof come into tight contact with the inside wall of the support. CONSTITUTION:A polarizing plate 17 is stuck to the film substrate formed with transparent electrodes over the entire surface as the electrode substrate 11 and an oriented film is formed thereon and is subjected to an orientation treatment. This substrate is cut to a prescribed shape. Two sheets of such electrode substrates 11 are stuck to each other by a spacer having adhesiveness and the liquid crystal 12 is injected into the spacing therebetween by utilizing capillarity. Further, two sheets of the electrode substrate 11 are inserted into the hollow support 14 disposed with lead wires 16. The transparent electrodes and the lead wires 16 are connected by a conductive material 15, such as silver paste, and the electrode substrates 11 are fixed by a resin 13 to the support 14. The spacings between picture elements are uniformized in this way when plural pieces of the elements are arrayed to constitute the large-sized liquid crystal display device; in addition, the spacings are substantially inconspicuous if light is diffused by the resin on the front surface.</p> |
