<p>A plush or pile knitted fabric comprises a ground knit and plush yarns (11, 12) or pile fibres, the ground knit being a plain knit formed of two ground yarns (1, 5) which are knitted together to form double stitches and at least one of which forms floats between stitches of the other yarn at least in selected courses. Plural pile yarns (11, 12) may be used or a carding head may supply fibres. The two ground yarns may be fed at a single position of a circular knitting machine and needles are selected to take either both yarns or only one. <IMAGE></p> |
