<p>Trehalostatin is a new substance with the following properties: soluble in water, sparingly soluble in hexane, ether, benzene or petroleum ether. No UV absorption maximum above 220nm. Positive Rydon-Smith colour reaction. Negative Elson-Morgan, ninhydrin and 3,6-dinitrophthalate colour reactions. TLC on Merck Kieselgel 60F254 using butanol/acetic acid/water 3:1:2, Rf = 0.37. HPLC on a YMC PA03 column (0.7x27cm) using aq acetonitrile (65% v/v) at 1.0ml/min; Rt = 11.0 Mol wt 366; (alpha)D + 115 degrees. The NMR spectra (1H and 13C) are given, and are consistent with trehalostatin having structure (I) or (II): (where R = alpha-D-glucopyranosyl).</p> |
