A method for forming images which comprises the steps of, in order, imagewise exposing to light a light-sensitive material comprising a support having thereon a light-sensitive layer containing a light-sensitive co-condensed diazo resin having a structural unit derived from an aromatic compound having at least one of carboxyl and hydroxyl groups and a structural unit derived from an aromatic diazonium compound to form light-exposed and light-unexposed areas in the light-sensitive layer, and developing the light-sensitive material with an aqueous alkaline developer substantially free from an organic solvent to remove the light-exposed areas of the light-sensitive layer. The method makes it possible to solve the problems concerining hygiene such as toxicity and giving out of bad smell during operations, those concerning safety such as catching a fire and a gas explosion, those concerning workability such a foaming and environmental pollution by exhaust liquid. The method further makes it possible to minimize the cost.
