A mechanical control device for adjusting the lubricant pressure at given points on the slideways of machine tools in relation to the loads at these points comprises a regulator unit 62 with cam rails 102 each supported adjacent its ends by cams 121 and 122. The cams are specifically positioned in relation to each other and are stacked on splined shafts 123 and 124. Pressure contact between the cams and rails is maintained by spring-loaded plungers in units 108 and 141. A two-part valve housing 105-108 supported from the machine slide 47 contains pressure control valves whose operations are determined by presetting the level and inclination of the cam rails 102 by rotation of the cam-shafts 123 and 124, in conjunction with indicia 146 and 146a on dials 125 and 125a. Lubricant supplied from a pressure source is fed to the regulator 62 via the valve housings 105-108 wherein the pressure control valves, having valve adjusting elements operatively connected to a movable machine part, vary the oil flow to respective points on the slideway to offset variations in the load distribution and maintain the oil film substantially constant. |
