PURPOSE:To impart a wool fiber with deodorizing property resistant to washing by treating wool fiber with a zinc complex compound composed of a specific zinc compound and an alpha-hydroxycarboxylic acid under specific pH and temperature conditions, thereby adsorbing more than specific amount of the compound in terms of metallic zinc. CONSTITUTION:A zinc complex compound is produced by using harmless zinc oxide or zinc carbonate as a zinc compound and combining the zinc compound with an alpha-hydroxycarboxylic acid (e.g. glycolic acid, lactic acid, tartaric acid or citric acid) or their sodium, potassium or ammonium salts. Wool fiber is treated with the zinc complex compound at pH3-7 and 30-100 deg.C to adsorb >=0.3wt.% of the compound (in terms of metallic zinc) to the fiber. |
