A sorting device, in particular for paper fibre suspensions, has a rotatable sorting drum which is at least predominantly perforated and is open at both ends and which has an inlet opening at one end and a discharge opening for dirt material, which has been sorted out, at the other end and which dips at least partially into a liquid sump. For the purpose of being able to sort the suspension without fibre losses as far as possible, the sorting drum is made conical, at least in the region adjoining the discharge opening, in such a way that it tapers towards the discharge opening. At the same time, it dips with the predominant region of its length, namely up to this conical region adjacent to the discharge opening, into a liquid sump formed from the paper fibre suspension, i.e. it is immersed by its lower circumferential parts into the liquid sump up to a certain liquid level, so that fibres can be washed out of the paper fibre mass to an adequate degree. Even the last fibres can still be washed out almost completely by adding spray water in the discharge region provided with a discharge screw. |
