A process for packing a considerable number of plants P in a cardboard box 8 or similar container, which plants are advanced on a conveyor 3 in one or more groups to the cardboard box and in through an opening in the same, whilst the cardboard box rests with its base on a support surface 9. The process is distinguished by the fact that the opening in the cardboard box is slid in over the conveyor belt, with the base introduced between this and the support surface, and to the extent that the plants delivered from the conveyor are delivered into that part of the cardboard box situated furthest away from the opening, and by the fact that the cardboard box is displaced in the direction away from the conveyor belt as further plants are introduced into the cardboard box.
