The analogue audio frequency signal input (11) is fed to the analogue processor (1) and operated on in digital form by a control circuit (2) which is under the control of a microcomputer (4) and a manual control panel (3). Data about the input signal, and 'white' or 'coloured' noise generated (8) and added via an auxiliary channel unit (7), can be analysed by a spectrum analyser (9) with the aid of a visual display unit (6). The CPU (4) has an associated data storage system (5). An alarm circuit (10) protects the output (12) from excessive amplitude signals.
