The invention concerns a system for games in which one or more players play simultaneously against the person organizing the game and/or against each other. The system according to the invention comprises a central computer 1 which receives commands from a games coordinator and which consists of one or more units 3, 5. The system comprises independent and intelligent player terminals 13 which are personal computers and are operated by the individual players. To register the individual player's purchases, for example number of counters or number of games, a portable data unit is used, for example a smart card.
