This system is composed of a cone (1) and of gearing (2), it makes it possible to vary the rotational speed continuously between its two step-down limits. The cone consists of helical teeth which makes it possible to step down or step up simply by reversing the input/output; the fact that it is mechanical gives it a significant transmission force, it may find its applications in the motor industry as an automatic gearbox simply by adding a system as a function of the engine speed whence better acceleration, maximum speed which can be increased, reduced consumption; in short, using the engine to its limit. The variation in the system is produced by a translation over the perimeter of the cone, thus producing a variation in the driven diameter, and thus a variation in rotational speed of the assembly. This example does not constitute any limit as regards the applications of this system for continuous mechanical variation of speed. <IMAGE>
