PURPOSE:To surely operate a current cutoff means at the time of overcharging by mainly constituting a positive electrode active material with the first active material and the second active material having preset compositions respectively. CONSTITUTION:The active material of a positive electrode 31 is mainly constituted of the first active material and the second active material, the first active material is made of LixNiyCo1-yO2 (where 0<x<=1 and 0<=y<0.50), and the second active material is made of Lix, Niy, Co1-y'O2 (where 0<x'<=1 and 0.50<=y'<=1.0). The second active material 0.5-70 pts.wt. is used against the whole positive electrode active material 100 pts.wt. The first and second active materials do not need to be one kind respectively, and two or more kinds may be concurrently used within the range to satisfy the above conditions. When a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery provided with a current cutoff means 25 is overcharged, the cutoff means 25 is surely operated, and the abnormal reaction in the battery due to discharging can be prevented. |
