PURPOSE:To accomplish high-brightness display and to remove flicker by projecting polarized components separated by a polarizing beam splitter by the use of another image forming means and optically synthesizing an image on a screen. CONSTITUTION:Light emitted from a light source 1 is separated to a S polarized component and a P polarized component by the polarizing beam splitter 2 and respective polarize components are guided to an independent image forming means 3 and 4. One of them displays the image data of odd fields and the other displays the image data of even fields, and the image data is enlarged and projected through a projecting lens 6, so that the image is synthesized on the screen 7. Since most of luminous flux emitted from the light source 1 is used to display the image, high-brightness display is accomplished. By inverting the phase of driving voltage between both image forming means 3 and 4 and superposing the phases on the screen 7, balance is optically kept well in the fields (frame) on a positive side and a negative side, whereas flicker is prevented. |
