PURPOSE:To obtain a molded product, improved in flame retardance, etc., and suitable for automobiles, etc., by simultaneously carrying out polymerizing and molding of a metathetic polymerizable cyclic olefin in the coexistence of a metathetic polymerization catalyst and bringing the resultant molded body into contact with halogen molecules, etc. CONSTITUTION:One or more metathetic polymerizable cyclic olefins are subjected to simultaneous polymerizing and molding in the coexistence of a metathetic polymerization catalyst to provide a molded product of a crosslinked polymer, which is then brought into contact with any of (A) halogen molecules, (B) a hydrogen halide (e.g. hydrocarbon chloride) and (C) a halogenating agent or hydrohalognating agent (e.g. sulfuryl chloride or ammonium chloride) capable of carrying out reaction similar to that of the components (A) and (B) or (D) a halogenated hydrocarbon (e.g. carbon trichloride bromide) having action as a strong radical chain transfer agent and treated under conditions so as to react the halogenated hydrocarbon with unsaturated bonds in the polymer. |
