Flexible control bar for fan light opener - overcomes problems at wall ledges and arched windows

The mechanism (1) is fixed to the wall surface (2) or the window frame and contains a section of flexible cable (3) which is laid across the horizontal wall ledge (2A) and solid rods. The cable is a Bowden cable construction (3) comprising the cable core (4) and surrounding casing(5). The casing (5) is fixed to the wall (2) and wall ledge (2A) with a mounting (6) and guide component (7). The cable core (4) is connected to rigid rods (10,11). The lower rigid rod (11) terminates at the attached hand operated lever (12) fixed to the vertical wall surface (2). The internal wall of the housing (20) and the snap cover (21) contain grippers which engage a circular groove (29) in the connecting coupling (25). When the hand lever (12) is operated the movement is transferred through the flexible control rod assembly through a scissor shaped assembly (not shown) connected from the upper solid control rod (10) to the fanlight and thereby the fanlight can be opened or closed as required.
