摘要 In chemical energy to electrical energy conversion by means of a fuel cell using a high temp. electrically conductive zirconia-based ceramic at 700-1200 deg.C as solid electrolyte, a La/Mn-based perovskite as positive oxygen electrode and a Ni-based cermet as negative fuel electrode, the novelty is that at the negative electrode side, (a) a hydrocarbon, alcohol, carbohydrate or mixt. in gaseous and/or vapour form is supplied as the pirm. energy source and (b) a gas, which contains the H20 and Co2 reaction prods. and which entrains at least partially unchanged prim. energy source, is withdrawn and allowed to expand. ADVANTAGE - The process is simple, reliable and efficient, allows use of hydrocarbons, alcohols or cabohydrates as prim. energy source, allows endothermic reaction of the reaction prods. with part of the prim. energy source so that external cooling is not reqd. and allows exothermic reaction of part of the prim. energy source with part of the oxygen source for heating during start-up and/or for temp. and power control during operation.
