Regulator coupling for engine throttle control - has operation provided by mechanical and electromechanical system

The throttle pedal in a road vehicle system has a rod (4) with a carrier (6) that operates in a slot in a carrier block (8). The block can be mechanically coupled (34,36) to a regulator element (44). The lower end of the regulator has a rack (87) that meshes with a pinion (106) which is motor driven. The motor receives an input from an electronic controller (130) responding to a range of sensors. - In operation the regulation moves the throttle (52) to adjust the engine point. When disengaged the connection to the throttle is provided by the mechanical link.
