In a process for safe and complete destruction of the cyanuric floride in residues produced during the manufacture of cyanuric fluoride by reacting cyanuric chloride with alkali metal fluorides in dipolar aprotic solvents, which still remains after most of the cyanuric fluoride has been removed by distillation, the residue is reacted with a quantity of anhydrous alkali metal hydroxide, hydrogen carbonate or carbonate, including any water of crystallization, or any desired mixture of these compounds, at least equivalent to the residual cyanuric fluoride at temperatures of approximately 20 to approximately 180 DEG C.
