The present invention relates to a method of purifying water by removing particulate material and nitrogen in one stage, according to which method the water which is to be purified is caused to flow continuously through a bed consisting of particles of natural zeolites; the zeolite particles in the bed are washed continuously in a particle wash which successively collects particles from the inflow side/underside of the bed, washes the particles and returns them to the upper side of the bed and which in so doing consumes the particles by wearing down the particles such that a free surface is present and the pores are opened, and according to which new zeolite particles are supplied in a guided manner to the filter to keep pace with the consumption, as well as to a device for carrying out the process. |
