PURPOSE:To obtain a ferromagnetic material excellent in cost performance as well as in magnetic properties by providing an intermetallic compound represented by a specific formula consisting of one or more kinds among rare earth elements, one or more kinds among iron group elements, and one or more elements among Ti, V, Cr, Mn, etc. CONSTITUTION:An intermetallic compound represented by a chemical formula, which is an La2T17 intermetallic compound which cannot exist in the form of two elements of La and transition metals of Co, Fe, and Ni, is allowed to exist stably by the addition of other metallic elements and a ferromagnetic material excellent in magnetic properties can be obtained, that is, a compound with a composition represented by R2T17 which cannot be exist in the form of two elements of La and transition metals of Co, Fe, and Ni is added relatively small amounts of one or more elements among Ti, V, Cr, etc., to La and one or more kinds among transition metals mentioned above. By this method, a new ferromagnetic material consisting of an intermetallic compound having a composition represented by a formula La2(T1-yMy)17 can be stably obtained. |
